Teaching Manners and Grace
Posted: December 28, 2008When I was younger, I think at age of 17 years, I enrolled myself into a social etiquette class for adults in the nearby community centre. Why do I do that ? I cannot remember the real reasons but I do believe I am a far- sighted person. I feel that it will be useful when I am older especially when the world out there is so different from the world I experienced. Maybe to me, all princesses are well-mannered, I want to learn to eat and talk like a princess in the full banquet feast which I will eventually be invited. Maybe I wanted to learn about poise and make-up, how to conduct myself in front of others and be confident. (I am always a optimistic person not introvert in-front of others.) However, that 4 weeks course really do me good. My hard earned tuition dollar paid for that course is well -spent.
Now, it is my daughter’s turn. I believe in starting young. Since in this century there are no lack of courses willing to teach children on social ettitiquette why not enroll her into such ? Well, table manners and eating in full set of western cutlery layout was what I wanted her to learn. Building her confidence in front of others (may it be children, adults, known friends or family members or unknown strangers) is the other skills I hope she can pick up. Exposing her to different children and environment also helps her to observe and learn more.
Well, I found Imageflair and Ms Eunice who is willing to conduct classes for small children like her 6 years of age. Well, will it be well spent holiday class ? I do believe it will be. I am preparing her for the class and would like her to really learn how to conduct herself in a girly and princess(cy) manners. More important is to build up her own confidence instead of relying on others’ opinion of her.
The class will soon be conducted on 29th, 30th and 31 st December 2008. I am looking for that change in her manners after the class. As parent myself, I am given an ebook by Euncie and will reading through to help my daughter as follow through after the class.
Well, my princess will grow up with Godly Grace and Manners and will have favour of God and man. Amen !
