First Day of School

It’s the first day of school for my daughter Sammi. She is excited and brave to face today, just like me !  I remembered that I was very brave when my mum dropped me at the primary school of the first day. She just stood next to the fence and waved to me.

While for my daughter, it was different. The school encouraged daddies to bring their child for the first day of school.  My husband is very excited too. He reminded me repeatedly to take our camera with us so that we can take pictures of her.

When we arrived at the school gates, a teacher came forward to welcome us and gave the daddy a special made pin badge. (Super hero Daddy) It is a way for the school to encourage fathers to bring their child to school. Yes ! this is good, it is to let father do their part in the early childhood of the child.

Sammi was very brave. She smiled and had her pictures taken by us.  While we try to locate for her class at the general meeting area. A prefect came along and volunteer to take her to the primary one meeting area. We handed her over and she happily followed the rest of the kids and the prefect.

As I watched her, I cannot help recalling back all these 6 years of how she has grown and now she is in different phrase of life - primary one. How fast has she grown ! She is not a very tall child. So with her big bag (about 3 kg) and her long skirt (school uniform to cover the knees) and 2 plaits with blue ribbon (especially bought for school use only) she looks just like a grown up school kid.

While, I speak my prayer over her and asked for God’s favour upon her as well as teachers and peers favours over her.  Sammi has expressed concerned about not having friends that she known in the class. I do hope she will find the right friends to be with and a senior students in the school as role model sooner.
