Christmas is Jesus birthday

Whose child is not excited about Christmas ? Is Christmas just about exchanging gifts and receiving presents ? What does it mean to a parent to teach his child/ children about the meaning of Christmas ?

My daughter was excited about Christmas coming just like any other children. This is the second Christmas since we are back from Shanghai. No cold winter nor falling snow. Christmas in Singapore is different. Besides weather, it is the mood too. However, I am glad I am back home and to the church here.

Thank God for the Church Sunday church for children, my daughter seems to mature throughout the years and started to know what’s the meaning of Christmas. Just 2 weeks ago, she insisted in drawing a picture and writing a letter to God. Not to Santa for a present nor a wish. But to Jesus. She wrote Happy Birthday Jesus on Christmas day. Indeed, it is Jesus birth that is the truth meaning of Christmas. It is not asking and asking for big ticket presents at this time of the year. What amazed me next was that she ( my daughter) asked me to drop her big roll of letter and pictures into the offering bag. She said I want to give God this letter. Drop it into the offering bag. Moreover, she insisted that it must be the adult church offering bag and not the offering bag in her children’s sunday school.  What make me sit up and think is that why is she thinking of the offering bags. What does the offering bag mean to her ? Is it a messenger bag to sent to God ? I explain to her earlier that I drop my offerings and tithes into the offering bags is a form of worship to acknowledge what God has provided for me totally. Does she think that the offering bag will be sent to God ? Anyway, when my husband knew of her intention, he told me to place in an offering together with the letter and drop it into the bag.

Jesus loves little children. I am sure He has heard the innocent and the love of my daughter to Him. May this coming Christmas be a continual blessings to my daughter and to us. We know He blesses and He will bless us more abundantly and fruitfully. Amen !
